Working Title |
Untitled good news project |
|
Synopsis |
Write a short outline of your story – briefly mentioning the main
characters and what happens to them. |
|
My
concept for my unit 10 multi cam project is to develop a YouTube news piece
which focuses on primarily good news rather than the bleak and depressing
news that we usually see on a daily basis especially in the current climate
with COVID19, Brexit and many other depressing things which means positive
and uplifting news stories get overlooked. But I want to create a news piece
that showcases this good news, with elements of comedy and some satire added
into the mix as well.
|
|
|
Setting |
Say where and when the story happens – you need to describe the
environment in which the action takes place |
|
Usually, This would have been filmed in the
creative studios at the college. However due to the current lockdown
restricting us from going to college. I’m having to adapt to film at home, so
this means that my setting of my multi cam project is going to either be in
my bedroom or my kitchen.
|
|
|
Genre
|
Say what type of programme it will be – will it be naturalistic,
melodramatic or comic? |
|
The Genre of my Multi Camera project is News
|
|
|
Narrative Structure |
Say how the programme is broken down - is the story told in
chronological order and are there sub plots? |
|
Introduction, News headlines, Weather, sport,
final news story and outro all
within in a three minute time frame
|
|
|
Vision
|
Explain how the film will look – this will include the style of camerawork,
the use of colour and the use of lighting |
|
It’ll be set up like a standard news broadcast
with one presenter in a medium close up frame. It’ll be set in my kitchen as I am unable
to access a green screen due to the covid19 pandemic.
|
|
|
Sound
|
Explain how you will use sound to help tell the story – how you will combine the four
layers of film sound to add to the total effect |
|
There will only be one layer of sound which will
be recorded on my Iphone
|
|
|
Editing
|
Explain the cutting of shots and the use of transitions – what kind of pace will you
have, and how you move from one scene to the next |
|
It’ll be faced paced editing because I want to
try and get my piece into a 2-3 minute video, It’ll run like a typical news format

Untitled

10 |
|
Section 1: Rationale/Review (Level 2 approx 50 words, Level 3 approx 100 words) |
|||
|
Because
of Covid19, we have been very much restricted in what we have been able to do
this year, especially on this unit because we have been in lockdown which
means we have been restricted to work from home. Which means all stages of
Unit 10, will be done at home. Which is very restricting however it gives us
a chance to be creative with how we shoot and wat we shoot with (phones, go-pros
etc). And I am very much looking forward the challenge of filming from home
as it will allow me to expand my creativity and learn to adapt to working in
different environments |
|||
|
Section 2: Project Concept (Level
2 approx. 100 words,
Level 3 approx. 200 words) |
|||
|
My
concept for my unit 10 multi cam project is to develop a YouTube news piece
which focuses on primarily good news rather than the bleak and depressing
news that we usually see on a daily basis especially in the current climate
with COVID19, Brexit and many other depressing things which means positive
and uplifting news stories get overlooked. But I want to create a news piece
that showcases this good news, with elements of comedy and some satire added
into the mix as well. However I don’t want it to become a parody of news
because that is not the aim of the show, delivering good news is the official
aim. I
will be taking heavy inspiration from some good news, a good news network
created by John Krasinski at the start of the Coronavirus pandemic which showcased
good news around the world and used celebrity guests such as The Rock, Brad
Pitt and many other to appear in te show as weather reporters and to bring surprises
to people who featured on the show. I will be also looking at a lot of YouTube
clips such as sports news parody Tries Sports News to understand the comedy
elements to making something like this |
|||
|
Section 3: Evaluation (Level 2 approx. 50 words, Level 3 approx. 50 words) |
|||
|
At
the end of every lesson I will be typing notes onto my blogger in different
pages so I can look back at what we have done for me to use what I have
learned in my lectures to better my research and my project overall. | |||

“The Good news network” Conor Blake We fade in to see our news anchor, Conor
Blake sat down with the camera angled in a medium close up, he bangs his papers
on the table as he begins to speak
host Hello and welcome to the Good News Network.
This is a channel dedicated to positive and uplifting stories at a time where
we really need them. Title card: The Good news network Host Over the last year or so, all you hear about
on the news is tragedy. But none of that will be seen here, so without further
ado… let’s get into some news! We now change camera angles to a side view
as the host turns to face the camera to read the headlines. Host We start our news in Denver, Colorado. Where
Morn Mosley and his five siblings spend 10 hours out in the snow making a giant
snake sculpture, completely out of ice. This 23 meter long snake sculpture
wowed their neighborhood, which they later shared to Instagram. Cut to video footage of the snake sculpture. host At Sibsley Primary School in Lincolnshire,
students thanked their teachers for working so hard throughout lockdown with a
nice surprise. Parents kept it a secret from the school as they hung artwork
and drawings by the students around the school to thank teachers for all their
work over the last year
Host Going back a few months now to Christmas
time, Where in Massachusetts, police officer Matt Lima, was called to a grocery
store where two women were shoplifting. And instead of charging the two women… Matt
Lima paid for their shopping. Cut to video clip host All the women wanted to do, was give their
family a nice Christmas, so Matt Lima, with his own money spend $250 to pay for
their food. Cut to another clip host And before we share our finally story of the
day… Here’s Conor with the weather! Cut away to me outside in a field, who
looks up at the sky and then directly into the camera conor Yeah. Yeah, not bad. Cut back to news room, with the camera
angled back to where it was at the start Host
And finally, for the last year, many like
myself have been shielding. Meaning so many people have missed out on seeing
friends or family and even the simple things like going to the shops. However,
now thanks to the COVID vaccines, there is light at the end of the tunnel. And
for one Amy-Claire Davies in Swansea, it felt like Christmas had come early. She
claimed that she was so excited to receive her vaccine, she couldn’t sleep the
night before. And now hopefully for many like Amy they can start to dream about
a normal life again. Thank you so much for watching and remember
that no matter how bad it gets, there is always good news out there!
